Chennai, Nov 14 (UNI) Two personnel of the Tamil Nadu
Fire and Rescue services department died and two others
injured in a major fire that broke out in a jewellery shop in
Madurai district on Saturday morning.
Reports received at the police headquarters here said
soon after getting information that a fire broke out at the
jewellery shop at South Masi street, a fire services team
rushed to the spot to douse the blaze.
While the team was battling to bring the fire under control,
the old two-storeyed building collapsed, trapping four people
under the debris.
They were rescued and rushed to the Government Rajaji
Hospital, where two firemen Krishnamurthy and Sivarasu,
died despite best of the treatment.
Two others who sustained injuries were undergoing
treatment at the hospital.
