Two Navy officers killed as  glider  crashes in Kochi

Kochi, Oct 4 (UNI) Two officers of Indian Navy were killed after their glider aircraft, which was on a routine training sortie, crashed near Thoppumpady bridge here on Sunday.
Lieutenant Rajeev Jha (32) and Petty Officer Sunil Kumar (29) breathed their last on the way to INHS Sanjivani, police sources said.
The glider, a light aircraft used for training sortie and only two persons can be accommodated, took off from INS Garuda, a Naval Air Station, here.
The mangled remains of the glider have been removed from the spot.
The cause of the crash is yet to be ascertained, the sources said.
A Board of Inquiry was ordered by the Southern Naval Command into the incident.
