Zee Group Chairman Subhash Chandra, son Puneet booked for forgery, criminal conspiracy

Raipur, Jun 20 (UNI) Chhattisgarh police have registered an FIR against Zee Group
Chairman Subhash Chandra, his Managing Director and son Puneet Goenka and a woman
from Raigarh for alleged forgery of documents and criminal conspiracy against an official of
Industrialist Naveen Jindal's Jindal Steel Power (JSP) Limited.
Acting upon a court order, Tamnar police yesterday booked the trio under sections
463, 465, 467, 469, 471, 193, 182/211 and 120(B) of Indian Penal code for allegedly committing
forgery of documents, giving false evidence and indulging in criminal conspiracy to tarnish the
reputation of JSP Vice-President DK Bhargava in an alleged rape case involving the woman.
Talking to UNI over phone today, Investigating Officer and Tamnar Police Station
House Officer RK Mishra said the offence was registered against Zee Group Chairman Subhash
Chandra, his MD son Puneet Goenka and the 60-year-old woman after the Gharghoda court
issued an order to police on June 10 for registering the FIR against them.
Earlier, in April this year the Chhattisgarh High Court had dismissed a petition
filed by the woman, a native of Tapranga in Raigarh district, seeking a court direction to police
for registration of FIR against the JSP official on rape charges. Later all her allegations and
documents produced in the court were found to be false and forged, the IO said, adding that
the court had also directed Zee Group to stop telecasting the news and the woman's interview.
In her petition filed in December 2014, the woman had accused the JSP Vice-
President of having committed rape on her in 2001 and 2011, and she was also forced to sign
some blank papers by the accused. But no action was taken against the accused despite her
complaint to the district magistrate and local police since 2003.
Police which investigated the matter following a court order, found her documents
to have been "forged" and allegations levelled against the JSP official as "false." Investigation
further revealed that the woman was upset with the JSP management for not getting adequate
compensation for her where about 45 acres of land was acquired by the
company for captive mining.
Mr.Mishra said police would conduct a thorough investigation in the matter
before taking action against Zee Group Chairman Mr.Chandra and others.
