New Delhi, Dec 6 (UNI) Janata Dal (U) MP Kahkashan Parveen on Friday expressed serious concern over increasing incidents of sexual crimes against women and demanded that a Women's Safety Day
or week be celebrated across the country to make people aware of these atrocities.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Ms Parveen said the series of horrific crimes against women did not show any signs of stopping. "There is anger in the country and society due to these incidents, but such incidents have not stopped despite stringent measures taken by the Central and state governments," she said.
She said there was a need to run a campaign on the lines of the Cleanliness Mission to raise awareness
in society. Referring to the celebration of various days and anniversaries, she said one day or one week
in the year should be celebrated as Women's Safety Day or Week.
Under this, people would be acquainted with women's safety concerns by organising various events from the level of panchayat to district headquarters and above.
