Uproar in Rajya Sabha continues, adjourned till 12 noon

New Delhi, July 22 (UNI) The proceedings in the Rajya Sabha were disrupted again on Friday amid uproar by Opposition MPs over price rise, misuse of central agencies, hike in GST and other issues.
Opposition members had given notices under Rule 267 to suspend the business and discuss the issues. Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Mallikarjun Kharge, CPI's Binoy Viswam and Elamaram Kareem, DMK's Tiruchi Siva, CPM's Dr V Sivadasan had given notices to discuss the growing price rise of essential commodities including food items.
While RLD's Jayant Chowdhary had given a notice to discuss the need to review Agnipath scheme of recruitment in the armed forces.
Congress members Pramod Tiwari, Deependra Singh Huda and KC Venugopal had given notices on 'concern over misuse of central agencies'.
"This has been disposed off by the House saying that I am not allowing it (under Rule 267) but will have discussion separately. There are opportunities to discuss through other notices," said Chairman Venkaiah Naidu.
The Opposition members, however, continued to raise their demands to suspend the business and take up the issues raised by them.
"You have wasted one week of precious time of the people and Parliament, this is not the way, particularly when the House is ready to discuss and the government has also expressed willingness to discuss. Stop this and don't bring these placards in the House," Naidu added.
Minutes later he adjourned the House till 12 noon.
On Thursday, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh managed to conduct Question Hour amid protest by Congress MPs over questioning of Sonia Gandhi by the ED.
