New Delhi, Nov 29 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha on Monday paid rich tributes to its sitting member and former Union Minister Oscar Fernandes, and five other former members - KB Shanappa, Chandan Mitra, Hari Singh Nalwa, Monika Das and Abani Roy, who passed away recently, on the first day of the Winter Session of Parliament.
Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu, while leading the House in obituary references in respect of the departed souls, said in the passing away of Fernandes, the country has lost a multi-talented personality. He was a lovable person and a dedicated social worker.
He had served as a member of the House representing the state of Karnataka for four terms from April, 1998 to April, 2004; from July, 2004 to June, 2010; from July, 2010 to June, 2016, and from July, 2016 till his demise, Naidu said.
