New Delhi, Sep 21 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha on Monday adjourned for the fourth time till 1200 hrs following Opposition uproar over the suspension of eight Members.
Soon after the House reassembled at 1110 hrs, Vice-Chairman Bhubaneswar Kalita asked the eight suspended MPs to leave the House as per the direction of the Chair upon which majority of the Opposition Members stood at their seats raising slogans demanding withdrawal of the suspension order. Many of them rushed to the well.
He further said that he will allow Leader of Opposition (LoP) Gulam Nabi Azad to speak but before that there must be an order in House and suspended Lawmakers would have to leave the House.
Mr Kalita repeatedly asked the protesting Members to resume their seats and maintain Covid protocol but his pleas fell on deaf ears and sloganeering continued.
Meanwhile, the Members from the treasury bench also raised slogans against the Opposition bench leading to pandemonium in the House.
On the assurance that the LoP will speak first in the House over the issue, they went back to their seats but the moment, Mr Kalita asked the eight suspended lawmakers to go out of the House, the ruckus restarted.
Despite best efforts of the the Vice Chairman Kalita, the Opposition was not ready to relent and the Chair adjourned the House till 1200 hrs.
