Opposition parties oppose Farmers' Bills in Lok Sabha

New Delhi, Sep 17 (UNI) The Lok Sabha took up two farmers Bills on Thursday with Opposition parties opposing them and alleging that government was promoting corporate interest.
Speaking during the debate in the Lok Sabha on two bills -- The Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 and The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill,2020 -- BSP member Ritesh Pandey said that farmers would have hit the streets of Delhi, had there been no Covid situation.
He said contract farming only promotes cash crops, which will adversely impact the soil quality and bio-diversity.
