AAP MP Parliament video row: LS panel to submit report by Dec 9

New Delhi, Dec 2 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today gave one more week's time to a nine-member House Committee, set up to probe charges of 'breach' of Parliament security against AAP MP Bhagwant Mann. The panel was set up after the Sangrur MP from Punjab courted a controversy by uploading a video of the Parliament premises on the social networking site. Ms Mahajan announced in the House that Mr Mann was being further debarred from taking part in the proceedings till the final decision in the matter is taken. She announced in the House that Committee chairman Kirit Somaiya had met her and requested for the extension of the time to submit its report. Ms Mahajan said the Committee has been given one more week's time till December 9 to submit its report. This is the fourth extension granted to the Committee. According to sources, Mr Mann has been found guilty of the charges; however differences among the Committee members remained on the nature of punishment to the erring lawmaker. "There was a rare unanimity among the members of the panel that the Sangrur MP from Punjab was wrong in video graphing the high security Parliament premises and was also found guilty of posting the video clip on the social networking site," they said. However, sources said, differences still remain on the nature of punishment to be given to Mr Mann. the AAP MP had sparked off a major controversy in July last during the Monsoon Session of Parliament after he shot a video clip of his journey from home to Parliament premises and uploaded it on the social media.
