Odisha cabinet approves the  restructuring  of OAS, OTES, OSTES and OFS

Bhubaneswar, Sep 21 (UNI) Odisha state Cabinet today decided to restructure the cadres of Odisha Administrative Service (OAS), Odisha Transport Engineering Service (OTES), Odisha Sub-Ordinate Transport Engineering Service (OSTES). The cabinet also decided to revise the cadre strength of Odisha Finance Service (OFS) for prompt public service delivery in the state administration and to address the issue of stagnation Briefing news persons after the Cabinet meeting, Chief Secretary A P Padhi said the proposed restructuring involve creation of 153 new new posts. The number of OAS posts would be increased to 1711 from 1558 after the restructuring. He said 30 posts would be added to OAS Group A(SB), 67 posts to OAS Super time scale, 43 posts to OAS Superior Administrative grade and 13 Posts to OAS special category. The government decided to increase the strength of the OFS from 727 to 800. The Chief Secretary said it has become necessary to create some new posts and upgrade some existing posts of OFS after the introduction of Goods and Services tax and addition of new functions and enhanced responsibility. The need for restructuring of technical cadres like OTES and OSTES under the Transport department was need of the hour to make it at par with other state services, he opined. The Cabinet decided to upgrade the entry level Post of OTES that is Inspector of Motor Vehicles from Group B to Group A (Junior branch) and to upgrade the post of RTO to Group A (Senior branch) from Group A (Junior branch). Odisha Sub Ordinate Transport engineering service shall hence forth consists of Junior MVI and Assistant MVIs. Junior MVIs shall be promoted first to Assistant MVIs and then to IMVs. Government also decided bring the general service officers like Assistant RTOs, Additional RTOs (General ) and RTO (General) under a new cadre—Odisha Transport Service,’’ Mr Padhi said. UNI BD DP
