Kalikho Pul inducts 5 in cabinet, 2 as Deputy CM

Itanagar, Mar 5 (UNI) Seven members of the 15-day-old Kalikho Pul led Peoples' Party of Arunachal (PPA) government in Arunachal Pradesh today got berth as Deputy Chief Ministers and Cabinet ministers posts. Kameng Dolo and Chowna Mein, were appointed as Deputy Chief Minister, while Kumar Waii, Lombo Tayeng, Wanglin Lowangdong, Kamlung Mossang and T N Thongdok have got berth as Cabinet Ministers. Exercising of the powers conferred to Article 164(I) of the Indian Constitution, Governor J P Rajkhowa administered oath and office of secrecy to the members in a function held at Darbar Hall in Raj Bhawan. Senior member Kameng Dolo, who served as Deputy chief minister during Gegong Apang's regime , this time has got the same post. However, another senior politician Chowna Mein was the minister in former Nabam Tuki government. There were only one member, T N Thongdok, who has been inducted for the first time in the cabinet rank. He was the Deputy Speaker in the Nabam Tuki government. While, Kumar Waii, Lombo Tayeng, Wanglin Lowangdong, Kamlung Mossang, all are old faces and served as ministers in different departments earlier. Replying to a quarry after swearing-in ceremony function on what is the necessity for giving berth of two Deputy Chief Ministers in the ministry that is probably first time in Indian history, Chief Minister Kalikho Pul said, "I just honoured senior citizens, there was no pressure from any quarters, I only honoured them because Mr Dolo, earlier served as Deputy CM post and Mr Mein is one of the senior most member of my government." The remaining four vacant posts of his ministry will be filled in a short duration, he answered in another question. Kalikho Pul was sworn as eighth Chief Minister of the state on February 19, with the support of 20 rebel Congress members,11 BJP and 2 independent MLAs. Later two more dissident MLAs from Nabam Tuki camp joined into Mr Pul's side to strengthen his hand. But, in a significant development, all the defected Congress MLAs under the leadership of Mr Pul joined into the regional political party Peoples’ Party of Arunachal (PPA) on March 3, last.
