JD(U) begins exercise for 2019 Lok Sabha polls

Patna, Sep 24 (UNI) JD(U) has set preparations in motion for next Lok Sabha elections, as the party prepared a detailed schedule till June 2018 for workers meetings from block to state level to tone up its organisation, for biggest electoral battle in 2019. The detailed schedule for workers meeting of the party from block to state level was finalised in state executive meeting of JD(U) held here at official residence of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who is also national president of the party. JD(U) would also organise functions across the state to create a massive public awareness against prevailing practice of dowry and child marriage on October 12, the death anniversary of veteran socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia, for which Chief Minister Mr Kumar would launch a programme of the state government on October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Bihar JD(U) chief Bashistha Narain Singh, after the state executive meeting of the party, told media persons here that a number of decisions had been taken to tone up the organisation and a detailed schedule had also been prepared to organise workers meetings from block level to state level regularly. Party workers had also been asked to inform the common man about achievements of the government, he added. Mr Singh said JD(U) was first political party in the country to make it mandatory for a person to sow atleast one plant to become a member of the party. JD(U) had been actively working for the cause of public interest and it contributed a lot in creating awareness against liquor consumption, he said adding that the party would also organise similar awarenss drive against prevailing social evils like child marriage and dowry.
