Complaint against Ruby Hall Clinic, its doctor for death of woman

Pune, Jul 20 (UNI) A prominent lawyer of Supreme Court Aashutosh P Srivastava has filed a police complaint against the city based hospital Ruby Hall and its doctor alleging that his 54-year-old mother died due to the negligence of the doctor.
Advocate Srivastava, who filed the police complaint under offence of murder at Koregaon police station on July 13, today said that his mother died of cardiac arrest last month due to sheer greediness for money and
negligence by Dr Rahul Patil, a cardiologist practising in Ruby Hall Clinic.
The complaint stated that Savivek Srivastava, son of the deceased took her to Ruby Hall Clinic, a well known hospital in the city. Cardiologist Dr Patil, attended to her and conducted preliminary tests and said that she had sufferd a heart attack and suggested to perform angioplasty operation on her.
However, according to Srivastava, till this time his mother was completely active. Dr Patil asked them to make an immediate additional payment of Rs 40,000 in cash to one Mr Amol, even when it was clearly told to him that the patient was having Mediclaim insurance policy of Rs 6 Lakh with cashless facility, to which Dr
Patil had replied that the aforesaid amount was his personal additional fees which would not be covered under Mediclaim policy, the complaint said.
The complaint added that the victim's family enquired with Dr Patil if any other senior cardiologist was
required to which he informed them that he could conduct the said angioplasty easily with no trouble, as there was nothing critical or serious with the patient and that there was no need of any consultation with any other cardiologists to perform such minor surgery.
After performing the angioplasty, Dr Patil clearly said the angioplasty was performed successfully
and advised his mother to be shifted to CCU (Coronary Care Unit), according to the complainant.
