New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) Unhappy over the removal of wrestler Sakshi Malik's name from the final list of Arjuna Award by the Sports Ministry on Friday, the Olympic bronze medallist has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju searching for answers to her two questions.
In her opening letter she says all the athletes dream of winning every possible medals they can lay their hands on.
The wrestler further asked PM Modi and Sports Minister Rijiju about the medal she should win for the country to be bestowed with Arjuna Award. In her second question, Sakshi has also asked if she would ever win the Arjuna Award in her wrestling career?
(Respected Prime Minister @narendramodi and respected Sports Minister @KirenRijiju. I have been honoured by the Khel Ratna and I am proud of it. Every sportsperson dreams of winning all the awards)," Sakshi has written.
(A sportsperson puts her life at risk for it. I also dream of seeing Arjuna award winner against my name. What more medal do I get for the country that I be honoured with the Arjuna award. Or in this wrestling life, I would never have the good luck of winning this award?" Sakshi, who has also won Padma Shri, fourth highest civilian award of India, said she.
In 2017, Sakshi bagged gold in Commonwealth Wrestling Championships and at Asian Wrestling Championship in New Delhi came with silver. In 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast clinched bronze medal.
