Birmingham, July 31 (UNI) World champion Nikhat Zareen knocked out Helena Ismael Bagao of Mozambique to book a quarterfinals berth in the women's lightweight boxing category on Day 3 of 2022 Commonwealth Games here on Sunday.
Looked upon as the favourite, the experienced Zareen started off solidly off the hook in the first round. She made nuanced moves and connected on her right punches, totally outplaying Bagao in the next round too.
The Indian landed clean punches on Bagao's in the final round to completely shock her, forcing the referee to call off the tie with 48 seconds remaining.
