Srinagar, Dec 6 (UNI) Freezing cold conditions continue in Kashmir Valley as Srinagar recorded the season's coldest night at -2.0°C on Wednesday.
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar said Srinagar recorded the season's coldest night on Wednesday, with temperatures plummeting to -2.0°C against -1.4°C recorded the previous night, and it was 1.1°C below normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir during this period of the season.
Pahalgam in south Kashmir remained the coldest place in Kashmir Valley. It had a low of -5.1°C on Wednesday against the -4.3°C recorded the previous night, and it was 1.8°C below normal for the tourist hot spot, the MeT office said.
There was an improvement by a notch in the minimum temperature at the ski resort of Gulmarg, recorded at -2.2°C today against the -2.3°C recorded the previous night, and it was still 1.1°C above normal for the valley of meadows in north Kashmir.
Qazigund on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway recorded a low of 2.0°C against -1.6°C, and Kokernag had a low of -0.5°C against 0.2°C recorded the previous night.
The mercury dipped in Kupwara and settled at -2.7°C against the -1.7°C recorded the previous night, and it was -1.3°C below normal for the frontier north Kashmir district.
MeT forecast of dry weather to continue till December 10 and generally cloudy on December 11 in Jammu and Kashmir. The night temperature is likely to see further fall during this week, the MeT office said.
