Amid dry weather night temp falls below freezing point at most places in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 4 (UNI) Amid dry and cold weather, night temperature further plummeted with Gulmarg and Pahalgam remaining the coldest places in Kashmir valley on Monday.
Meteorological department forecast of dry weather till December 10 and generally cloudy on December 11 in Jammu and Kashmir, the MeT office said. Currently the weather is clear at most of the places in J&K.
It said minimum temperature is expected to fall by 1-3°C during the next seven days over all the stations of J&K.
After experiencing coldest night on Sunday at -3.6°C, minimum temperature showed a slight improvement in Gulmarg on Monday recorded at -3.0°C and it was still above 0.3°C above normal for the valley of meadows in north Kashmir.
Minimum temperature at the tourist resort of Pahalgam in South Kashmir dipped to -3.4°C on Monday against -2.4°C recorded the previous night and it was -0.1°C below normal for the valley of shepherds.
Srinagar had a low of 0.7°C against 1.4°C recorded the previous night and it was 1.6°C above
normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir during this period of the season.
The maximum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at 12.0°C the previous day and it was 0.6°C above normal for the summer capital.
Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway recorded a low of -0.4°C against 1.2°C, and Kokernag 0.8°C against 2.6°C recorded the previous night.
Kupwara plunged to -2.5°C against the 1.2°C recorded the previous night and it was -1.1°C below normal for the frontier north Kashmir district, the MeT office said.
