Punjab: SAS Nagar to get canal water supply by Feb, 2021

Chandigarh, Aug 23 (UNI) The Punjab Housing and Urban Development Department has decided to supply canal-based water to the residents of SAS Nagar (Mohali), to ensure optimal utilisation of surface water and reduce the load on underground water.
An official spokesperson of the H&UD Department said that a water pipeline is being laid by the GMADA in Mohali. The work has been allotted to Baroda-based Spunpipe & Company, at a cost of Rs 60 crore. As per the availability of water, the pipeline is being laid up to Sector 66 in Phase-1.
In phase-2, the pipeline would be extended to Aerocity and IT city. The phase-1 work is to be completed by February, 2021 and about 20 per cent work has been completed by the agency, despite the COVID-19 restrictions, he added.
