56 per cent MLAs spent less than 50 per cent of limit in UP polls

Lucknow, July 5 (UNI) Around 56 per cent of the MLAs elected in the 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, held in past months, spent about 50 per cent less than the limit set by the Election Commission on campaigning.
It has been highlighted in an analysis done by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Uttar Pradesh Election Watch on Tuesday of the election expenditure details of 393 newly elected MLAs out of 403.
According to the ADR report the election expenditure limit for MLAs during the assembly elections was Rs 40 lakh. The election expenditure includes details of public meetings and processions, campaigning through electronic and print media, expenditure on campaigning by workers, on vehicles and on campaign material.
