Man gets lifer for wife murder in Bulandshahr

Bulandshahr (UP), July 27 (UNI) A man was sentenced to life imprisonment and penalty of Rs 20,000 also imposed on him by a local court here on Wednesday for the murder of his wife, a prosecution officer said.
Assistant District Government Counsel Rajiv Mallick said the victim's mother Omwati Devi had lodged a case against her son-in-law Manoj, a resident of Kothiyat locality, who had immolated her daughter Anu Bansal. "Omwati in her complaint alleged that Anu got married to Manoj in 2000 and has two daughters. She alleged that Manoj started harassing Anu for not having a boy child," he said.
Mallick said that Omwati had alleged that accused Manoj immolated Anu on June 14, 2016. She was admitted to a hospital in Delhi where she succumbed to her injuries a week later. "After hearing the counsels of both the sides and examining the evidence on record Additional Sessions Judge Vivek Kumar held Manoj guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment along with the fine," he said.
