UP: 15 die in incidents of wall & house collapse

Lucknow, Sep 16 (UNI) As many as 15 people died and eight were injured in separate incidents of wall and house collapse due to incessant rain in different parts of Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here.
Police sources said while nine people died in Lucknow, 4 were killed in Unnao and 1 each in Rae Bareli and Jhansi.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of the victims who died in such incidents.
In a major incident, nine people, including four of a family, died and two injured when a wall collapsed in Dilkusha area due to incessant rain in the state capital here, police sources said.
They said the incident took place around 2 am when the wall collapsed on makeshift shanties. "Several people were buried under the debris. On getting the information the police reached the spot and launched a relief and rescue operation," the sources said.
Three men, three women and three children died in the incident, police said.
Those killed in the incident have been identified as Pradeep (28), his wife Reshma (25), Naina (1), Dharmendra (28), his wife Chanda (25), their two sons, Pappu (50) and his wife Man Kunwar Devi (45).
The injured have been admitted to Civil Hospital where their condition is stated to be stable.
"All the victims are said to be residents of Jhansi district," they said.
Similarly, four persons, including three siblings, died in two incidents of wall collapse in Unnao district. The first incident took place in the Asoha area where three siblings died after the wall of a mud house collapsed late on Thursday night. Besides, a youth died in Mahesh Ganj.
District Magistrate Apoorva Dubey said those, who died in Asoha incident, have been identified as Ankit (20), his sister Unnati (6) and brother Ankush (4). She said the incident occurred when the victims were sleeping in their house.
In Rae Bareli, a child died and four people were injured when a mud house collapsed in Joshiyana locality on Friday, an official said.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (Sadar) Shikha Gangwar said due to incessant rains, a two-storied house collapsed in which Rajan Kashyap and his family were buried under the debris. She said Rajan, his wife Manju Devi, sons Rajat and Rajneesh and daughter Rajani were taken to a hospital where Rajan's three-year-old son Rajneesh died during treatment.
In Jhansi three persons were buried under the debris when a two-storied house collapsed in Sipri Bazar area on Thursday night. The injured were admitted to Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College. Principal of the medical college DR SN Sengar said one of the injured Suresh (40) was found dead on arrival.
Governor Anandiben Patel and CM Yogi Adityanath have expressed grief over loss of lives in these incidents. The CM has directed the officials of the district concerned to ensure proper treatment of those injured in the incidents.
