Kanpur, Oct 2 (UNI) In yet another incident in Kanpur five members of a family were killed and 10 others were injured when a truck collided with a loader in Chakeri area on Sunday morning, police sources said here.
Police sources said that the speeding truck hit the mini loader on Ahirwa flyover. "Those travelling in the loader were injured in the accident and were taken to Hallet hospital by the police where doctors declared five dead," they said.
Police sources said that the deceased are said to be members of the same family. "They have been identified as Sunil Paswan, his mother Rama Devi (60), sister Gudiya (40), sister-in-law Kasak (17) and driver Suraj (20)," they said.
Police sources said that the injured include Sunil's son Prince, daughter Trisha, wife Renu, nephew Pratham, mother-in-law Rani, brother-in-law Akash, aunty Reeta, Rekha, Priya and Kutput. "As per the preliminary information the victims were going to Vindhyachal," they said.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the loss of lives in the incident and while praying for the peace of the departed souls have conveyed his sympathies towards the bereaved families.
He has directed the district administration officials to reach the hospital and ensure proper treatment of the injured.
It may be noted that in a major incident in Kanpur 26 people, mostly women and children, were killed and nearly a dozen others were injured when a tractor-trolley carrying pilgrims overturned in a roadside pond in Sadh area of the district late on Saturday evening.
