Srinagar, Oct 26 (UNI) A soldier was injured in a militant attack on an Army camp in south Kashmir district of Shopian on Friday afternoon.
The attack comes less than 12 hours after militants attacked an Army camp at Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday night, resulting in death of a soldier and injuries to another.
A police official told UNI that militants fired at an Army camp of 34 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) at village Mantribugh in Shopian at around 1210 hrs on Friday, resulting in injuries to a soldier.
The security forces guarding the camp retaliated ensuing in a brief exchange of fire, he said, adding the militant later managed to escape from the spot.
He said the injured soldier was immediately taken to a hospital. “A search operation has been launched in the area to nab the attackers.
During the last 24 hours, eight militants were killed and two soldiers were martyred and as many injured in different encounters and attacks in the valley.
