Srinagar, Sep 17 (UNI) Three militants and a woman were killed and an officer of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was injured in an encounter which ensued during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Srinagar on Thursday, official sources said.
A police Spokesperson confirmed killing of three unidentified militants and said further details were awaited.
The sources further said troops of Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint CASO at Batmaloo area in the city in the wee hours.
However, when the security forces were moving towards the particular area after sealing all exit points, militants hiding in a house resorted to indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons.
Security forces also retaliated ensuing in an encounter, they said adding initially a militant was killed and CRPF officer injured. A woman was also killed in the exchange of fire, they stated.
Later, two more militants were killed, they said adding the firing has stopped and the operation has ended.
