Masood Azhar's relative among two militants killed in Pulwama

Srinagar, Jul 31 (UNI) A top Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) commander, relative of Pakistan based JeM chief Masood Azhar, involved in Lethpora attack and expert in manufacturing Improvised Explosive Device (IED), was among two militants killed by security forces in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Saturday.
The militant identified as Mohammad Ismal Alvi alias Lamboo alias Adnan was involved in Lethpora Pulwama attack and figured in the chargehseet produced by National Investigation Agency (NIA), Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir range Vijay Kumar said.
A police spokesman said that following specific information about the presence of militants in the forest at Nagberan-Tarsar Tral in Pulwama, troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police, and CRPF launched a joint search operation in the wee hours on Saturday.
When security forces were moving towards a particular area militants hiding there fired at them with automatic weapons. “The security forces retaliated ensuing in an encounter,” he said.
He said two militants were killed in the general area of the Dachigam forest.
A defence ministry spokesman said one AK rifle and one M4 rile have been recovered from the slain militants.
Mr Kumar congratulating security forces for the major success said Alvi had stayed with Adil Dar who rammed his explosive laden vehicle with a CRPF bus that left over 40 personnel dead on Srinagar-Jammu national highway at Lehtpora in Pulwama on February 2019.
