Lucknow, Jul 22 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that the state is lucky to have bestowed with natural resources like water – both surface and ground – and underlined the need to conserve it for the future generation.
“When we talk about water, UP is lucky to have abundant natural resources. It is a valuable natural resource and it is our duty to conserve it. There is mindless extraction of groundwater in the recent past. Now, we need to look for recharge of groundwater,” Yogi said on the concluding day of the `Groundwater week’ here today.
He said that in the last three to four decades abnormality could be seen in the extraction of groundwater in rural and urban areas. In 287 blocks out of 823 blocks of Uttar Pradesh, water level has gone down by more than 20 cms resulting in a decline in the availability of groundwater.
