SP,BSP appear tizzy of their future in UP after UP & Bihar bypoll debacle

Lucknow, Nov 18 (UNI) The opposition parties, the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party , appear to be tizzy of their future after the rout of the secular grand alliance in Bihar assembly elections and the resounding victory of the BJP in six out of seven assembly by polls in Uttar Pradesh.
Both the SP and BSP almost simultaneously in a knee jerk reaction took measures to put their house in order. BSP replaced its state president Munkad Ali with Bhim Rajbhar. By appointing Rajbhar as state president, the BSP is now making desperate attempt to win back the extremely backward caste (EBCs) among the OBCs. It was the BSP which has given significant representation to the EBCs ever since its debut in electoral politics in 1989. Later the BJP successfully poached over this social group in 2017.
The SP chief Akhilesh Yadav after years of bad blood with his uncle Shivpal Yadav offered to accommodate the estranged uncle in the cabinet if his party form the next government in 2022 UP assembly elections. Shivpal Yadav spurned the offer. The attempt of Akhilesh Yadav was more at consolidating the Yadav vote bank than unity in the first family of the party. Samajwadi party has suffered three successive defeats –May 2014 Lok Sabha elections, 2017 UP assembly elections and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
