Basti, Nov 13 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday credited the Yogi Adityanath government for improving law and order in Uttar Pradesh, and said he has made the state 'riot-free', as he urged people to ensure BJP's victory in the upcoming Assembly polls.
Speaking after inaugurating the Sansad Khel Mahakumbh at the regional playground in Basti, lauded the Yogi Adityanath government for development of the state.
"We can see the changes in Uttar Pradesh, projects worth thousands of crores are being launched," Shah said.
"Elections are almost here... since Yogi ji has become CM, have you seen mafia anywhere in eastern UP? Those who came to make others migrate, have migrated themselves since Yogiji came to power," claimed the Union Minister.
He said, "Yogi Adityanath has made UP riot-free, that is why development is happening. Development cannot happen unless law and order is taken care of."
He also talked about the work done by the government for farmers and said, "Farm loans worth Rs 36,000 crore of 46 lakh farmers have been waived off in Uttar Pradesh and Rs 37,000 were sent directly to bank accounts to around 2.54 crore farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Nidhi Yojana."
He also said that there was a time when police used to be scared of 'bahubalis' (criminals).
"Earlier, the policemen were afraid of the Bahubalis, but today, the Bahubalis are afraid of police, the change that has come, there were riots, curfews, this change has come because of our government," he added.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present at the dais.
Shah inaugurated the MP Khel Mahakumbh at the Regional playground and addressed the public at Shivharsh Kisan PG College. He said projects worth Rs 200 crore were launched and appealed to the people to make BJP victorious again in the upcoming elections.
