Lucknow, Oct 29 (UNI) Ruling BJP for the first time created a sort of record , when it did not field any criminal background candidates in the ongoing bypolls to seven assembly seats in the state where polling is scheduled on November 3.
Of the total 88 candidates and after analyzing 87 of them, it was found that 18 candidates or 21 per cent were of criminal background . Surprisingly, 15 of them which is around 17 per cent have serious criminal cases against them.
Association for Democratic reforms (ADR) report released here on Thursday, among the major parties, 5(71%) out of 7 candidates analysed from BSP, 5(83%) out of 6 candidates analysed from SP, 1 (17%) out of 6 candidates analysed from Congress and 3 (14%) out of 22 Independent candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.
