Ayodhya, Sep 17 (UNI) As the count down begins for the announcement of the judgement in the Babri Mosque demolition case, the main litigant from the Muslim side in the title suit Iqbal Ansari on Thursday surprised everyone by appealing that all the 32 accused should be freed from all charges.
The special CBI court is expected to give its judgement on September 30 and hence has issued summons to all the 32 accused, including former deputy prime minister L K Advani, former Union Minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharati, and former UP chief minister Kalyan Singh.
Mr Ansari, told reporters here that the Supreme court had given the entire land for the Ram temple and many of the accused have already died. "As most of the accused are in their old age so it would not be right to punish them at this juncture," he stated.
He also demanded that all the cases that are in relation to Babri mosque demolition should be withdrawn immediately. "Ayodhya issue had in the past turned into a bone of contention between the Muslims and Hindu but after the historic Supreme Court decision, now the issue should be put in the back burner and both the communities should end their dispute and join hands to uplift the country," he averred.
Mr Ansari, who was also invited for the Bhoomi pujan of Ram temple here on August 5, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Ram Janmabhoomi and laid the foundation stone, said it is the high time that all the issues related to Babri mosque end and a new chapter begins.
After 27 years, the special CBI court will deliver its judgement on the demolition of the Babri mosque on September 30. A total of 49 people were accused in the demolition on December 6,1992 in two FIRs but now only 32 are alive while 17 have died.
