Lucknow, Jan 18 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday alleged that a large number of false cases were lodged against his party leaders by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the last five years and Nahid Hasan was one of them.
Addressing a press conference held at the party headquarters, Akhilesh said, "A large number of false cases have been lodged by the BJP government against SP leaders, including some senior leaders, in the last five years and in this series Nahid Hasan is one of them."
On a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in the Supreme Court seeking de-registration of SP for not publishing criminal antecedents of it's candidate, he said that way the BJP would not be able to contest polls from anywhere in the country.
Akhilesh said, "If such PILs are filed and if they are BJP sponsored then the party will not be able to contest polls. In the affidavit filed by the Chief Minister are there fewer cases against him. Are there fewer cases against the Deputy CM."
"As per the information received recently, if maximum MLAs with criminal antecedents have reached the assembly, it has been done by the BJP. In that way the BJP could have been de-registered long back. Would the BJP not have taken decision on the cases against the CM that too when he is not the member of the party," he said.
The SP chief said that the number of false cases lodged against the SP leaders could not even be imagined.
