Lucknow, Sep 30 (UNI) The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on Wednesday said the acquittal of the accused in Babri Masjid demolition was far from justice and neither based on evidence nor in accordance with the law and the board wants the CBI to file an appeal against the acquittal.
AIMPLB general secretary Maulana Mohammad Wali Rahmani in a statement here said, "whatever may be the reason for acquittal but this is also a fact that many of us have seen videos and photos of demolition of all who were part of the conspiracy and it is in open".
He said in 1994 a five-judge bench of the Supreme Court stated that the demolition was a "national shame" and it shook the faith of the rule of the law and constitutional process.
"A 500-year-old structure which was defenseless and whose safety was a sacred trust in the in the hands of the state government was demolished. After the demolition and new wave of communal violence emerged in the country and we can see where we stand today," he said.
He further said Muslim population stood by constitution and democracy when Supreme Court awarded the Babri Masjid land to Hindus.
The AIMPLB General Secretary said, "to uphold the rule of law, we urge the CBI to file an appeal."
