Jaipur, Jul 29 (UNI) Rajasthan government on Wednesday evening sent a fresh proposal to the Governor for calling an urgent session of Assembly from August 14.
The decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting called here this evening under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
As per sources, the state Cabinet Ministers agreed for extending the date of the calling the Assembly from July 31 to August 31.
Governor Kalraj Mishra has categorically mentioned that 21 days advance notice in needed before calling any session of the Assembly as per the rules and regulations.
Sources said as the first proposal for the session was sent on July 23, twenty-one days end on August 14.
Earlier in the day, the Governor rejected the third proposal by the Gehlot government for bringing the Assembly in session from July 31, on the grounds of not fulfilling the mandatory 21 days notice period and 'ignoring' the risk of COVID-19.
Later, Mr Gehlot met Mr Kalraj for a brief meeting and called the Cabinet meeting to discuss on new proposal.
With this, it has became clear that the Governor was not convinced in calling the session before 21 days period. Also, Mr Gehlot will not leave the ground without commencing the Assembly session.
The Chief Minister wants an urgent session to discuss the COVID-19 situation and important pending bills, while the Governor suspects it is for a Floor Test.
Mr Gehlot has also shown a certain urgency in calling the Assembly, since the matter of disqualification of 19 Congress rebel MLAs, including former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot, has stuck in courtroom.
In media, Mr Gehlot stated that he wants a Floor Test, as people of the state are suffering from political uncertainty and accused the Governor on working on the behest of BJP.
