Rajasthan crisis: 8-member committee formed to check veracity of tapes

Jaipur, Jul 19 (UNI) An eight-member committee has been formed to check authenticity of audio tapes of purported conversations regarding a bid to overthrow the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan.
Sources said officials of ATS and SOG have been directed to arrest people who have been accused of hatching a conspiracy to topple the government in the audio tapes.
A team of SOG on Saturday visited Manesar hotel to inquire suspended Congress MLA Bhanwar Lal Sharma but the officials have to return empty-handed.
In the audio, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Bhanwar Lal Sharma and one Sanjay Jain were alleged to have discussed horse-trading of the lawmakers.
It has been alleged that Sharma was speaking with Union Minister Shekhawat in the audio. A third person by the name of Sanjay Jain is also alleged to have been part of the conversation.
SOG has arrested Sanjay Jain in this connection.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has also registered complaints against three senior Congress leaders in Ashok Nagar Police Station. BJP spokesperon Sambit Patra has demanded a CBI probe in the matter.
After surfacing of the audios, political temperature in the desert state soared with the ruling party in state accusing the BJP of indulging in MLAs 'poaching' to dethrone the democratically-elected government, while the saffron party said the clips were doctored and charged the grand-old party with trying to cover-up infighting within its fold and levelling allegations on other parties.
Meanwhile, whereabouts of Pilot camp's lawmakers are unknown, while Gehlot camp MLAs are still lodged at a five-star hotel in Rajasthan.
