Manish Tewari attacks BJP govt for ignoring Punjabi in J&K

Manish Tewari attacks BJP govt for ignoring Punjabi in J&K

Chandigarh, Sep 4 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and MP Manish Tewari on Friday lashed out at the BJP government at the Centre for its anti-Punjabi stand which he said was revealed when it ignored the Punjabi language while notifying five official languages for the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Tewari also questioned the conniving silence of the Shiromani Akali Dal, which is an alliance partner of the BJP at the Centre, where Ms Harsimrat Kaur Badal is a union minister.
The Anandpur Sahib MP said, while BJP’s hostility towards the Punjabi language is quite old and that too well known since the days of the Punjabi Suba movement, the Akalis’ indifference was too shocking.
The former union minister asserted that a large section of people in Jammu and Kashmir were Punjabi speaking and it was gross injustice amounting to lingual sectarianism by the BJP government at the centre which is right now directly ruling the UT.
He urged the union government to reconsider its decision of excluding the Punjabi language from the list of official languages of J&K.

“That region’s populace will never tolerate insult of a lady during this festival that worships Shakti. Now, even erstwhile chief minister Digvijaya Singh is hinting at a ‘farewell’ to Mr Nath as the latter is ceaselessly disregarding his party’s apex leadership. The Congress sun is setting,” the senior politician conveyed via social media.
