AAP demands Punjab CM’s resignation over Rs 100 cr tax evasion ‘scam’

Chandigarh, Aug 22 (UNI) As many as five Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators on Saturday demanded Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s resignation over the alleged Rs 100 crore tax evasion scam in the Excise and Taxation Department of the state.
In a joint statement here on Saturday, AAP MLAs Principal Budhram, Meet Hayer, Rupinder Kaur Ruby, Jai Krishan Singh Rouri and Master Baldev Singh questioned the competence of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, alleging that even though the steering wheel of the Congress government was in the hands of Capt Amarinder, but was being remote-controlled by the mafia and corrupt people who were calling the shots in the state.
Principal Budhram and Meet Hayer said though the state Excise and Taxation Department had been retained by the Chief Minister himself, but he had given a free run to the gang leaders who are knee-deep in corruption in the department.
