Bhopal, Aug 6 (UNI) A tempest appears to be brewing in the agrarian sector as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday condemned as a politically-fuelled move his Punjab counterpart Captain Amarinder Singh’s dispatching a communication to Premier Narendra Modi regarding endeavours to obtain a Geographical Indication Tag for this state’s famous Basmati rice.
“I condemn – in the strongest terms – the letter penned by Punjab’s Congress dispensation. I wish to ask my opposite number as to what hostility he harbours vis-à-vis this state’s cultivators? It is not a matter of Madhya Pradesh or Punjab; it concerns the entire country’s peasants and their livelihood,” Mr Chouhan was officially quoted as saying.
