Yogi Adityanath apprises PM Modi of steps taken to combat COVID-19 in UP

Lucknow, Jun 11 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday praised Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government for its efficient handling of a devastating second wave of Covid-19 pandemic which has gripped the entire world.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath apprised Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the multi-pronged approach adopted by the state government to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the most populous state in a one-hour meeting held on Friday in the national capital. He also expressed his gratitude to the PM for his continuous guidance during the Corona times.
The CM attributed the state’s successful Covid-19 response to the aggressive and early testing, vaccination, planned partial corona curfews, smooth oxygen supply management, prompt and proper treatment of Covid patients as a result of which the Active cases have sharply declined by 96.41 percent and the state has managed to limit the fresh cases below 1,000 for fifth day in a row.
The Chief Minister informed that an average of 3,00,000 samples were being tested for the novel coronavirus infection daily, the highest in the country.
Following its proactive approach under a stringent mechanism of ‘Trace-Test-Treat’, Uttar Pradesh has conducted as many as 5,27,80,680 COVID tests so far and efforts are being made to restore normalcy in the state with Partial Corona Curfews aimed at saving both ‘Lives and Livelihood’.
The Partial Corona Curfews have been restricting the spread in the densely populated state and also helped the industry to function and retain the employment of millions of UP’s population, the Chief Minister explained.
With effective implementation of ‘UP COVID Model’, the recovery rate in Uttar Pradesh has also surpassed 98 percent, which is again one of the highest figures in the country.
As the state engaged in preparing the district-wise trajectory of the Covid curve using mathematical modelling to fine-tune its Covid-19 response, the Positivity Rate has declined to 0.2 percent, CM Adityanath further informed.
The UP government has been benefiting from Prime Minister Modi’s guidance in the fight against the virus from the beginning, and Uttar Pradesh has been carrying out the immunization programme in a planned and swift manner.
The Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the State exceeded 2.19 crores, taking the figures to 2,19,99,548.
In order to ramp up the drive further, the state government also ensured that no section is left under this massive vaccination campaign. In this regard, Guardian Special Booths (for parents of children under the age group of 12 years), Workplace CVCs for the government employees, judicial workers, journalists, teachers, traders and others, Special ‘Pink Booths’ for women to encourage the women folks to get their ‘shots of life’, special vaccination centres for street vendors i.e. Driver Booths and Street vendors booths , CVCs in rural areas have been set up in all the 75 districts of the state.
Aiming to break the chain of infection and keep villagers safe from corona infection, the Yogi government has deployed around 73,000 Surveillance committees. House to house visits undertaken in a mammoth drive in over 90,000 villages of UP to identify and isolate COVID+ve citizens and trace contacts has been serving as a model for other states to replicate and has been lauded by the World Health Organization and NITI Aayog.
Since March-end, over 70 percent of the Covid tests were done in the rural areas alone.
UP has effectively managed to boost its oxygen supply from various sources (almost three times) from 350 MT to over 1050 MT, the CM said.
In a first, Uttar Pradesh has set up an ‘Oxygen Monitoring System’ for ‘real-time’ tracking of oxygen demand of hospitals and the transparent distribution of oxygen supply which was again lauded by several experts and was later followed by other states as well.
In a bid to contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's aim to make India a USD 5 trillion economy, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also reiterated the aim to make Uttar Pradesh a USD 1 trillion dollar economy. He also discussed ways in which the state is preparing itself to achieve the target.
The Uttar Pradesh government has been formulating a district-wise strategy to transform the state into an investor-friendly place conducive to industrialisation with proactive measures firmly in place, particularly to develop and highlight the neglected regions of the state.
He presented details of an innovative plan setting district-wise GDP targets in the state, based on each district’s opportunities and challenges, linking itj to the PM’s goal of a $5 trillion mark for the Indian economy by 2025. The report has the progress made between 2017, when the Adityanath government came to power, and Financial Year 2019-20.
At his meeting with PM Modi, CM Adityanath presented three books. Out of which one was about a Harvard University study titled ‘Pravasi Sankat ka Samadhan’ on management of the migrant crisis resulting from the Covid lockdown. The second book is based on a study by John Hopkins and the third book is based on district-level GDP.
