Hamirpur (HP), Apr 19(UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Monday reiterated that there was no need to enforce lockdown in the state amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
He said that the government is working on a mechanism to eradicate the dreaded virus and at the same time strengthen the state's economy.
Talking to local reporters, he said that people’s cooperation was the need of the hour to do away with the coronavirus. He said that it was a sad matter that people were not cooperating this time on the analogy of the last year. He said that for this, the media had to come forward to educate the people about the sad effects of the CORONA and how to get rid of it.
Thakur said that the vaccination along with wearing face masks, social distancing and washing hands repeatedly were the main weapons against the dreaded virus and such weapons should be allowed to remain alert round the clock.
Replying to a question, he said that the BJP was united and it would win the Mandi Lok sabha and Fatehpur assembly bye elections with an ease as the people were happy with the performance of the BJP led governments both at center and in state. The party has already won majority seats in the PRI elections, Civic body elections and thereafter in the Municipal corporation elections.
He said that it was yet not decided how to help the families that had lost their family members during the CORONA crisis. He said that since their number was too much as such a final decision to this effect would be taken after thorough discussions.
Thakur said that the government was watching the situation with rapport attention regarding the drought situation in all parts of the state. It would be ensured that there was no water crisis in any part of the state and adequate supply of water would be made available to the people.
Replying to a question about his visit to Samirpur to meet the former Chief Minister, Pk Dhumal, he said that it was a courtesy call and he had not found time during the last three years to go to Samirpur and to meet Dhumal and his family. He said that it was a nice meeting and had no politicking behind that.
Moreover, PK Dhumal was the former Chief Minister and senior party leader and his suggestions were vital for running the government, he added.
