Lucknow, Oct 27 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a virtual dialogue with the street vendors of Uttar Pradesh who benefitted from the PM Swanidhi Yojana in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and said that big scams had taken place in the previous governments in the name of providing loans to the poor.
During his virtual dialogue and disbursement of loans with the street vendors on Tuesday, the PM said that earlier too, some people in the country used to distribute loans in the name of the poor. They used to be dishonest, and the result had to be borne by the poor.
Today, the poor people are taking loans from the banks as well as repaying them honestly. For the first time after Independence, the poor are connecting with the banks and giving direction to the country's progress, the PM averred.
He said that in the corona era when the big countries were facing a hard time, this country stood firmly on the strength of the general class. The country will soon recover from the coronavirus crisis. Now, we are on the path to victory. But till the time we don't win completely, we should remember maintaining social distance and wearing masks.
He said that the government will take all possible measures to improve the lives of the poor under 'sabka saath, sabka vikas.'
The PM said that such a scheme has been formulated for the first time since independence. The centre of concern of all the efforts of the government was how the poor brethren have to suffer the least. With this thinking, the country started the Garib Kalyan Yojana from 1 lakh 70 thousand crores.
