HP CM pays floral tributes to Lala Lajpat Rai

Shimla, Nov 17 (UNI) Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur paid floral tributes to the great freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai, popularly known as ‘Punjab Kesari’ on his death anniversary by garlanding his statue here today.
He was designated with tittle of Punjab Kesari (Crown of Punjab) and died a few weeks after sustaining severe injuries during a baton charge by police when he led a peaceful protest march against the all-British Simon Commission, a commission constituted by the United Kingdom for Indian constitutional reform.
Also known as Lion of Punjab (Shree Punjab) Lala Lajpat Rai (28 January 1865 — 17 November 1928) was Martyr of Indian freedom movement.
