Bhopal, Sep 17 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday directed his officers to ensure excellent arrangements for purchase of crops including paddy from peasants in the kharif marketing year 2020-21, it was officially learnt.
“This time, our state became a model for the rest of the country vis-à-vis wheat procurement. Our cultivator brethren should be given sufficient time to sell their yield on support price and precautions must be in place at acquisition centres in view of the COVID-19 pandemic,” the senior politician instructed during a related meeting.

Bhopal, Sep 17 (UNI) Reiterating the Madhya Pradesh dispensation’s commitment vis-à-vis welfare of “our cultivator brethren,” Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan averred on Thursday that his government’s objective is to double agrarian income at the earliest.
“In this context, not only is every possible form of assistance being extended to peasants with regard to their work but also crop damage is compensated to the maximum. Agricultural credit is provided at 0 per cent interest. The Mandi Act witnessed amendment for enabling ryots to obtain highest value for their yield and marketing arrangements are being improved. Recently, my regime disbursed crop insurance claim amounts totalling Rs 2,981.24 crore to tillers subsequent to depositing outstanding premium of Rs 2,200 cr for kharif 2018 and rabi 2018-19. Under this, Rs 1,921.24 cr were paid to 8.40 lakh farmers for kharif and Rs 1,060 cr to 6.60 lakh growers for rabi,” the senior politician was officially quoted as saying.

Raipur, Sep 17 (UNI) Chhattisgarh has witnessed yet another record breaking number of
3809 fresh COVID-19 (Coronavirus) patients during the last 24 hours. With this, state’s
COVID-19 tally rose to 77775 on Thursday, though 2019 patients who were undergoing
treatment in various hospitals across the state have recovered and they have returned to
homes after discharge. Meanwhile, 17 persons, infected with Coronavirus have died.
