Rapid cash to ryots for paddy

17 Jan 2020 | 9:09 PM

Bhopal, Jan 17 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government has issued directives that paddy procurement-related payment be deposited in cultivators’ accounts in a period not exceeding five days, Chief Minister Kamal Nath informed the Assembly on Friday.
“I urge all members – including those seated in the Opposition – to inform me over phone if any peasant does not receive the amount due. Three days back, I had a meeting with officers of the Cooperatives and Agriculture departments. Crop damage – caused by recent hail in some areas – is to be rapidly surveyed and compensation for tillers will follow. Excessive precipitation in earlier months also ruined infrastructure. Our loss assessment is Rs 8,000 crore and the Centre was asked to release resources from the National Disaster Response Fund. A certain quantum was obtained and I met the Premier and the Home Affairs Minister vis-a-vis the remainder,” he averred on the concluding day of a special session.
