Lucknow, Jul 20 (UNI) Former deputy prime minister Lal Krishna Advani will depose before the special court hearing Ayodhya demolition cases on July 24.
Similarly former union minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi will depose before the court on July 23.
The two leaders would record their statements through video conferencing from Delhi, sources here on Monday said.
One of the accused, Ramchandra Khatri will also record his statement virtually from Sonipat jail on Tuesday where he is presently lodged.
Of the total 32 accused, most of them have recorded their statements and just around six people are left including these political leaders.
Special court judge SK Yadav will record the statements of the accused under section 313 of the CrPC where the court will confront the accused on the evidences produced against them.
After the SC’s strict direction, the court has speeded up its effort to record the statement of 32 accused under section 313 of the CrPC, if required through video conferencing.
Earlier the special court was asked by the SC to complete the trial by April 18 but due to lockdown, the judge had sought the extension of the deadline.
On the plea of the special judge, the SC had extended the time frame to complete the trial by August 31.
A total of 48 FIRs were registered by the Ramjanambhoomi police station SHO and Ramjamanbhoomi chowki incharge on December 6, 1992 in connection with the demolition in which CB-CID investigated the matter and then it was handed over to the CBI. Later on May 31, 2017, CBI filed chargesheet against 49 accused in which 17 of them have died.
It is expected that the judgement of the court is expected in the late 2020 as the Supreme Court had last year directed the special judge to deliver its judgement in nine months. But it has been delayed.
