Punjab Govt. releases 108 life-sentence convicts on grounds of good conduct

Chandigarh, Aug 7 (UNI) In a move aimed at fostering rehabilitation, the Punjab Government has granted early release to 108 prisoners serving life sentences over the past year, citing their exemplary conduct during incarceration.
Punjab’s Minister of Jails, Laljit Singh Bhullar, highlighted that this initiative reflects the state’s commitment to offering second chance to inmates who demonstrate positive behavior and meet the criteria for early release.
The released prisoners, previously held in various jails across Punjab, are part of a broader strategy to promote rehabilitation and reintegration into society. Bhullar emphasized that the justice system should not only focus on punishment but also on enabling individuals to rebuild their lives.
