Shimla, Jul 28 (UNI) Justice Jyotsna Rewal Dua was sworn-in as the Judge of Himachal Pradesh High Court on Tuesday.
She was administered oath of Office by the Chief Justice L Narayana Swamy in the High Court.
Before this, she was serving as the Additional Judge of the High Court.
Justice Dua, born on May 25, 1969 in Nahan, District Sirmour, graduated from Government Degree College, Nalagarh, District Solan, in 1988 and was meritoriously placed in Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.
She obtained LLB Degree from Himachal Pradesh University in 1991 with three Gold Medals.
She got enrolled as an Advocate in Bar Council of Himachal Pradesh in December, 1991 and started practicing independently since then. She was designated as Senior Advocate in July, 2015.
Justice Dua practiced in Shimla, primarily in High Court of Himachal Pradesh and had also been appearing before HP State Administrative Tribunal, Shimla. During initial years of practice, she also appeared before the Courts of Divisional Commissioner, Shimla, Financial Commissioner (Revenue), Shimla and H.P. State Consumers Disputes Redressal Commissioner, Shimla.
She mostly dealt with Civil, Constitutional, Environmental and Service matters. She was elevated as an Additional Judge of High Court of Himachal Pradesh on May 30, 2019.
Keeping in view the measures for containment of Covid-19 pandemic, no formal ceremony was held and the oath ceremony was telecasted live on the Youtube.
Justices Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Sureshwar Thakur, Vivek Singh Thakur, Sandeep Sharma, Chander Bhusan Barowalia and Anoop Chitkara attended the oath ceremony through video conference.
