Hailstorm, gusty winds cause 60 pc damage to apple crops in south Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 3 (UNI) The severe hailstorm and "cyclone-like" winds that swept through the twin districts of Kulgam and Shopian in south Kashmir on Monday, had caused 60 percent damage to the apple crops, officials said.
“The extent of the damage is estimated to be around 50 to 60 percent”, Director of Horticulture, Kashmir Zahoor Ahmad told media persons in south Kashmir on Tuesday.
He said a team of experts visited the affected areas today to assess the damage caused by the extreme hailstorm and winds and came to know that the extent of damage is estimated to be around 50 to 60 percent.
