Hamirpur to have Shaheek Samarak: Jai Ram Thakur

Hamirpur (HP), July 26(UNI) Hamirpur will have a Shaheed Smarak to commemorate the sacrifices made by the army jawans for the nation, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said on Tuesday.
He said that a proposal of sixty-five lakh rupees for the smarak had been sent and that would be examined in detail.
The chief minister was here in connection with the state level Kargil Vijay Diwas function here on Tuesday.
He paid rich tributes to the martyrs and laid wreaths at the smarak of Shaheed Major Mridul Sharma of Hamirpur.
Deputy Commissioner Debasweta Banik and SP, Dr. Akriti Sharma also laid wreaths on the smarak.
He said that the Kargil Vijay Diwas is a very important day for all Indians and this day is celebrated every year on July 26th to pay homage to those who had laid down their lives during the Kargil war with Pakistan.
Thakur said that fifty-two jawans of Himachal Pradesh had sacrificed their lives during the Kargil war and two jwans had won Param Vir chakras for their bravery. Eight jawans of Hamirpur had also laid down their lives during the Kargil war and as such the role of Hamirpur people has been vital in every war that the country has fought till now.
He appealed to the youth to take inspiration from the sacrifices of the brave jawans and continue with this Indian tradition.
Replying to a question about few of the BJP leaders joining Congress party in coming days, he said that it was not true. However, whenever elections come, “the process of coming and going “starts and ends after the elections.
He, however, claimed that the BJP was a well knit organization in Himachal Pradesh and was working well under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and party president, JP Nadda.
Thakur expressed optimism that the party would sweep the election and form its government once again as the people of the state were for bringing the BJP back to power despite opposition by the Congress party and other parties.
