Hamirpur (HP), Aug 13 (UNI) Heavy rains and landslides in Himachal Pradesh have killed 192 people and destroyed government and private property worth Rs 980 crores since the onset of monsoon, an official spokesman said on Saturday.
The major loss has been caused during the last one week.
The spokesman told UNI that the Public Works Department suffered the maximum loss of 569 crores and the Jal Shakti Department Rs 390 crore rupees.
He said the maximum number of 32 people died in Shimla district, followed by 25 in Kullu, 24 in Mandi, 19 in Chamba, 18 in Kangra, 17 in Sirmaur, 16 in Una and 11 in Solan. The others died elsewhere.
Similarly, 342 people got injured and 6 people were still missing.
The monsoon rains have destroyed 91 houses and left dozens homeless while 311 houses were partially damaged.
