Punjab registers 1555 fresh Covid cases, 51 deaths

Chandigarh, Aug 28 (UNI) Punjab on Friday registered record 1555 fresh Covid-19 cases and 51 deaths, taking the infection tally to 49,378 and the death toll to 1307 in the state.
According to an official health bulletin, the deadly virus claimed 12 lives in Amritsar district, 11 in Ludhiana, 5 each in Jalandhar and Patiala, 2 each in Fazilka, Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurdaspur, Mansa, Sangrur and Tarn Taran and one life each in Barnala, Bathinda, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, SBS Nagar and SAS Nagar districts.
It said that 211 fresh cases have been reported from Jalandhar district, 182 from Gurdaspur, 140 from Ludhiana, 115 from Faridkot, 109 from Patiala, 85 each from Hoshiarpur and SAS Nagar, 84 from Ferozepur, 81 from Amritsar, 65 from Fatehgarh Sahib, 61 from Muktsar, 56 from Pathankot, 54 from Moga, 46 from Kapurthala, 40 from Barnala, 37 from Fazilka, 30 from Mansa, 25 from Sangrur, 21 from Ropar, 18 from Bathinda, 8 from SBS Nagar and 2 new cases from Tarn Taran district.
